Delivering its doorset and ironmongery solutions alongside its renowned industry expertise, Laidlaw played a very special part in the build of Brighton’s brand new private health centre – Montefiore Hospital.
The newly finished £25 million building has been fitted with approximately 250 of Laidlaw’s Orbis doors, each complete with softwood frames. As part of this supply, Laidlaw provided laminate doors in a soft white finish alongside a series of postformed doors specifically for theatres. Due to the way in which the laminate is wrapped around the frame, postformed doors are easier to keep clean, making them ideal for use in a hospital environment where there is an increased need to help keep the spread of surface bacteria at bay.
Complementing the doorsets, Laidlaw’s Orbis Premier and Commercial lever handles, pull handles, door closers, kick plates and push plates were also supplied in a satin stainless steel finish that is equally suitable for use in a hospital environment, due to its non-porous surface which is perfect for use in areas with strict levels of hygiene control.
Laidlaw teamed up with contractor, Mansell Construction Services, to help ensure the building’s interior was in keeping with the design that was drawn up by Brighton and Hove architects, Nightingale Associates. The design itself concentrated on creating a modern and contemporary atmosphere – qualities which are synonymous with Brighton itself.
As a result, the development of Montefiore Hospital has helped breathe new life in to the surrounding area. The state of the art development will create more than 100 local jobs and generate a welcome stream of new business within the local community - a result Laidlaw is happy to be a part of.
David Manley National Doorset Sales Manager for Laidlaw, said: “This was a particularly prestigious job in which Laidlaw worked closely with Nightingales Associates to come up with a cost effective solution and one that was still aesthetically appealing to achieve the design ambitions of the private hospital. Laidlaw is really proud to have been apart of such a high-end project and we are even more proud to have worked closely with Mansell Construction services to achieve the bespoke interior design from Nightingale Associates.”
