With the need to bring a level of uniformity to its extra care housing, whilst delivering the added peace of mind that its residents are both safe and secure, Awel y Coleg extra care housing in Bala, North Wales has selected Laidlaw's specialist ironmongery and access control systems.
Fitted throughout the new development, which boasts 23 two bedroom and 7 one bedroom flats, Laidlaw’s Centurion range of ironmongery coupled with the Salto access control system, provides a sleek, modern appeal in line with the vision of charitable housing association, Tai Clwyd.
"In an attempt to bring some regularity both to the look of our extra care housing and which suppliers we do business with, we employed the services of Laidlaw to provide us with a modern yet robust range of ironmongery and security systems," said Peter Baker from Tai Clwyd.
"Our previous extra care housing project was fitted with Laidlaw's Centurion ironmongery in an aluminium finish - due to budget allowances with this new project however, we were able to opt for a slightly superior specification in Centurion’s stainless steel finish ironmongery," he continued.
Laidlaw's Centurion range of ironmongery is ideal for local authority projects, such as the Awel y Coleg extra care housing, as it meets the growing need for outstanding performance at a competitive price. Supplied with a two year guarantee, Laidlaw’s Centurion range provides a robust and practical solution that will fit comfortably with tight budgets.
For added security reassurance, Laidlaw also supplied the Salto access control system. Peter Baker commented: "Compared to alternative systems available, the Salto system was better value and more aesthetically pleasing. Providing secure swipe locks throughout the property, which can only be opened by those in possession of a key card, the Salto system gave us the peace of mind that our residents will be safe on site at all times.
"Due to the nature of the system, we are able to evaluate the movements of both staff and residents, which can be especially handy from a management perspective, as we are able to access such data quickly from a central hub. From a long term cost perspective, the Salto system is far superior to any standard euro lockset - if keys are lost or tenancies change for example, a new key card can be simply issued whereas a traditional lockset would need to be changed, resulting in unnecessary cost and hassle," Peter added.
