Anti-Ligature
Orbis Anti-Ligature - Locksets
Orbis anti-ligature - locksets.
Orbis anti-ligature mortice locksets are supplied as precision engineered assemblies complete with the appropriate mortice lockcase suitable for use with any standard Orbis euro profile cylinder (ordered separately) on doors up to 62mm thick.
The door thickness must be stated at the time of ordering to ensure the correct fixings are supplied. Comprehensive fixing instructions are supplied with each product to ensure correct fitting in all cases.
The design of the mortice locksets is suitable for new installations or in the case of retrofit applications, can be supplied complete with repair plate kits to ensure all previous door preparation is fully concealed. This will ensure a robust installation where excessive amounts of the door have previously been removed.
Orbis anti-ligature locksets
The Orbis anti-ligature locksets are designed as co-ordinated sets comprising the internal and external operating hardware and the mortice lock. The main features are:
A.
Full range of lockcase functions including rollerbolt locks with stainless steel forend
B.
Corrosion resistant chrome plated roller bolt catch suitable for both single and double action doors
C.
Available in single plate (Primary barricade override) or two plates (secondary barricade over-ride) options according to application
D.
Specially designed internal operating hardware has a smooth rotary action
E.
Cylinder cloaked by escutcheon
F.
All escutcheons, backplates and roses have a bevelled edge
G.
Standard cylinders can be used as the unique, patented lockcase ensures that the key will always dominate the internal handle providing staff access at all times
H.
Robust back to back assembly
I.
All fixings are included and supplied in the tamper proof Torx pin format

Coding explained.
The Orbis anti-ligature lockset consists of a combination of lockcase function and operating hardware. For each lockcase function a range of operating hardware can be selected which, whilst providing the same operational characteristics, enable the specifier to change the style and appearance of the installation. A simple coding system has been adopted to assist in formulating the combination required.
Having selected the ideal functional characteristics of the lockcase required for each application, the handle style and mounting type can be selected for each to suit the look and feel you require. The choice of hardware style will not affect the functionality of the assembly. A simple WC combination with indicator and outside cylinder operation with ‘Pinch Grip’ handle (729) on individual plates (A) as shown above. The same application and lockcase function but with the Laidlaw (730) Elephants trunk pull handle variation on full length single plate (C) as shown above.
Cylinders for mortice locksets.
Due to the unique design of the Orbis primary and secondary barricade function mortice locksets, standard cylinders may be used without jeopardising the safety of the lockset. A full range of single and double euro profile cylinders is available.

Bedroom lockset.
The Orbis 46 bedroom lockset is ideally suited to the following applications:
• Bedrooms
• Offices/Staff areas
• CTM's (Clinical team meeting rooms)
• Therapy rooms
• Storage areas
Operating Characteristics
The lock case includes a medium sprung roller catch and a secondary deadbolt. From inside, the turn handle can be used to pull the door open and to throw and retract the deadbolt. From outside the cylinder provides staff with a means of withdrawing the deadbolt and the extended pull allows the door to be pulled shut (or pulled open if outward opening). From outside the key will always dominate the inside handle to guarantee staff access at all times.
Indicator lockset.
The Orbis 56 lndicator lockset is ideally suited to the following applications:
• En-suite bathrooms
• Assisted bathrooms
• Bedrooms
• Therapy rooms
Operating Characteristics
The lock case includes a medium sprung roller catch and a secondary deadbolt. From inside, the turn handle can be used to pull the door open and to throw and retract the deadbolt, simultaneously activating the indicator on the outside plate.
From outside the cylinder provides staff with a means of withdrawing the deadbolt and the extended pull allows the door to be pulled shut (or pulled open if outward opening). From outside the key will always dominate the inside handle to guarantee staff access at all times. However, the use of the key will not change the status of the indicator which is only operated by the inside turn handle.
Options
Available as AL-1, AL-2 or AL-3 formats with a variety of handle and mounting options - see table for details.

Latch-lockset.
The Orbis 66 nightlatch lockset is ideally suited to the following applications:
• Offices
• Cupboards
• Kitchens
• Dispensaries
Operating Characteristics
The nightlatch lockset is designed primarily for applications which require automatic locking for security such as kitchens, where there may be knives and other dangerous equipment; and dispensaries and cupboards which may contain drugs or other chemicals.
The lock case consists of a latchbolt with anti-thrust device. From inside, the turn handle provides a means of withdrawing the latchbolt and pulling the door open. From the outside the door is always locked and can only be opened by a key.
This lockset is also available with a ‘passage set’ function which enables the key to withhold the latch to prevent the door from automatically locking.
En-suite lockset.
The Orbis 76 en-suite lockset is ideally suited to the following applications:
• Ensuite bathrooms
• Service risers
• Shallow cupboards
• Laundry rooms
Operating Characteristics
The lockset is designed primarily for applications which require a pull on both sides of the door. In this model, operation of the deadbolt is limited to key operation from outside only and is particularly useful in the case of bathrooms to isolate the facility in the case of damaged fixtures and fittings.

Communal lockset.
The Orbis 96 communal lockset is ideally suited to the following applications:
• Communal rooms
• Link doors
• Offices
• CTM's (Clinical team meeting rooms)
• En-suite
Operating Characteristics
The lockset is lockable by key from both sides but does not lock automatically. Fitted with a medium sprung roller catch, the door is free to operate unless locked by key from either side.
This form of locking regime has become the preferred option for en-suite facilities in CAMHS units (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) and other challenging environments as it has the capacity to lock the door in either the closed or open position.
